A, VERY GOOD (QUITE POSSIBLY, THE BEST AVAILABLE) BASIC, SURVIVAL MANUAL

What do you need for survival? It sounds like a simple question; but, when you start to think about it, it does't have a simple answer. If you've ever had any REAL survival experience, you know why.
Unlike many of the Bush Craft/Survival Courses and manuals presently available; including much of the US Army Survival Manual FM21-76 the Scouting Manuals  will actually help you to learn REAL WORLD bushcraft, camping, food handling, navigational, pioneering, and survival skills.
Man claims to have dominion over other animals, and all other life on earth; which we have not. Rather than continuing our attempt to conquer nature;which, because we are only a small insignificant part of it; we can never do--we should learn to live with it. This means: protecting and respecting other animals--DOING ONTO OTHERS.
We've all read stories about some man or woman who crossed a wilderness with little but an axe, a knife(usually a "Bowie"), a rifle (at least fifty calibre), thin blanket, a little salt,, and maybe some dried beans, or dried meat (just in case hunting was poor. But that was long ago in our country's history--long before any of us were around. There were very, very, few such people and they no longer exist: they had knowledge that we do not, their tastes were simple, and none of them claimed that it was fun.
Although it was not specifically intended to be such, probably the best BASIC survival manual, readily available, at a very modest cost, is the Canadian Scout Handbook.Much of the information, that I have posted, or will be posting, on this site can be found in this one little book; which contains such a wealth of survival information, it is almost unbelievable There are a lot of survival manuals on the market; some more advanced;  but this one is simple, well explained, requires no "special" equipment, and since it was intended for Boy Scouts is very easy to read-- and understand. Buy one; and carry it near you at all times--the information it contains will help you to survive in almost any environment; and it just may save your life, in a disaster/survival situation.
